33-year-old Britany Barron was found guilty of falsifying evidence in a case in which her husband is accused of murdering her ex-lover and ordering her to saw off the man’s head.
According to authorities, Britany Barron’s husband, Armando Barron, believed his wife was having an affair with Jonathan Amerault , a coworker who was known as “Abercrombie” because of his attractiveness. Britany claims she told her husband a week before the incident that she no longer loved him and wanted a divorce. When he heard that, he grabbed her throat and began choking her, saying, “Are you serious?”
ARMANDO BARRON ABUSES WIFE OVER CLAIMS OF INFIDELITY
The main problem began in September 2020, when Armando Barron discovered texts, his wife had exchanged with Amerault. Britany testified that she and Amerault communicated via text and social media apps in the days preceding his death and got to know one another better while working on a project. Britany stated that she would log out of her phone, “I didn’t want Armando to see me talking to a guy,” she disclosed.
When asked if she wanted to start a relationship with Amerault, she said, “I thought there might have been potential, but I wasn’t planning on a relationship,”
According to the prosecution, Armando Barron then assaulted his wife, after suspecting her of having an affair with Amerault. He choked, punched her and eventually put his gun into her mouth. “You know that you’re going to die tonight, right?” Barron told her not long before the two left the house to go to the park.
On the way to the park, he read the texts aloud, striking her after finishing each one, she said. Armando Barron then allegedly used his wife’s phone to lure Amerault to Annett Wayside Park in Rindge just north of the Massachusetts state line.
BRITANY BARRON TESTIFIES ON HOW AMERAULT WAS KILLED AND BURIED
Prosecutors claim that Armando beat and kicked Amerault when he arrived, made his wife stand on his neck, and then slit his wrists. Prosecutors claim that he also attempted to coerce his wife into shooting Amerault, but she resisted.
Britany testified that Armando Barron eventually forced Amerault into the back seat of his own vehicle and instructed her to get into the driver’s seat. She claimed that he eventually left them alone. Britany testified that Amerault told her to pick up the machete that was inside the car and kill her husband but she refused. Armando Barron eventually got into the car and shot Amerault three times, according to Brittany.
She claims that Barron compelled her to cut off Amerault’s head, bury it, and cover the body with a tarp. According to her testimony, he went home after leaving her to dispose of the body. Britany testified in court that she used a saw that she had brought from home. “He said that we needed to cut off his head so that there would be no dental records of the body,” she said.
They both destroyed evidence, she testified. New Hampshire Fish and Game officers discovered Britany at the campsite, where she was not permitted to camp, and later discovered the body in a swamp.
BRITANY BARRON’S CHARGES
Britany pleaded guilty to three counts of falsifying evidence, agreed to testify at her husband’s trial, and also apologized to the victim’s family for her actions. In October 2021, Britany Barron received a sentence of three and a half to seven years in prison, with two years suspended from the minimum and maximum terms.
In addition, she received 377 days of credit for time already served, which enabled her to get a parole date recently. On the other hand, Armando Barron entered a not-guilty plea to the charge of killing Amerault. He admitted in court that he had hit Britany, broken her nose, tried to strangle her, and kicked Amerault in the head.
Meanwhile, Britany Barron got out of prison in time to testify in the murder case against her husband.
BRITANY BARRON TESTIFIES AGAINST HUSBAND
Britany Barron testified at her husband’s May 2022 trial at a Cheshire County Superior Court that Amerault begged for his life on the night of Sept. 19, 2020.
She told investigators about the brutal torture of a coworker with whom she had a budding romance.
ARMANDO BARRON IS FOUND GUILTY
Armando Barron was found guilty less than two hours after the jury convened. Armando Barron was found guilty on a slew of other charges, including second-degree assault, domestic violence assaults, and kidnapping Jonathan Amerault for luring him to Annett Wayside Park in Rindge.
